I am currently exploring Geothermal installation to my home. I also plan on installing a Solar electric system on the home as well..... Given my conditions listed below, could I be advised as to whether a vertical well heat pump would work in my case?

Home is 1200 sq ft. ranch style w/ 2 car garage under. Two adults resident.
Property has two wells, the inactive well is only 50 ft deep and isn't used currently for drinking water.
Current heating system is an oil fired furnace heating hot water for both home heating and hot water.

Some tentative plans are to preheat water by solar, then feed preheated water to the boiler. Or perhaps run the solar/geotherm water in parallel with the boiler.

My question is, Is the 50 foot water well going to be useful for a heat pump application to heat my home and hot water.

    Thanks in advance to all.

Why is the 50' well inactive?
