My ClimateMaster HWG feeds my hot water heater's drain valve, preheating the water. The hot water heater developed a leak and will be offline for a while. Can the ClimateMaster be used in cooling mode while the HWG is disabled by turning off the dipswitch 3-4 and the HWG pipe to the hot water heater valve is turned off? Thanks.

Restating my question: My ClimateMaster Tranquility 30 (TE) Series IOM has the HWG option. If I turn off dip switch 3-4 on the DXM2 board, which disables HWG mode, can I still use the cooling cycle of the ClimateMaster without damaging anything while I replace my hot water heater? Thanks.

Likely too late for you, but for anyone else who might see this later, yes, you can turn off the DSH any time without worrying about damaging anything, but don't trap/isolate the water in the DSH circuit by closing off valves with water still in the unit; you should drain it if you are closing valves. As the water trapped in the heat exchanger heats up it will expand, and without anywhere to expand to, can cause damage.
